The Rumba is a dance that teaches patience, timing, rhythm and how to measure steps to amalgamate patterns. Stay on time while maintaining your rhythm throughout the dance. Learn the fundamentals of Latin-Cuban style rhythm so your hips do the work and transition from one pattern to another. Hand and arm style will add elegance and carry over in other ballroom dances. 1-2 patterns in this dance should do the trick.
The Swing will show you how much fun it is to dance. With the Swing use 3-4 of the showiest step patterns done on the floor. Focus on footwork, foot position, style and technique. The steps are design to allow you to hang loose while keeping the character and style of the dance to your favorite music.
