Discover the vibrant world of pastel art in this engaging and hands-on class designed for beginners and experienced artists alike. Using soft and oil pastels, students will explore techniques such as blending, layering, shading, and color mixing to create stunning works of art. Each session will focus on developing fundamental skills while encouraging personal creativity through a variety of subject matter, including landscapes, still life, and abstract compositions. No prior experience necessary—just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to experiment!
Supplies:
Feel free to bring in whatever supplies you are already familiar with!
Begin with an inexpensive pastel starter kit. No need to purchase professional grade to start. You can choose which you like better as you practice with them.
There are many different types of pastels. Hard and soft Color Stick are the most popular; Oil pastels are like crayons. You can choose which you’d like to use after some practice and use.
There are two types of paper, coated and uncoated. Most should be moderately "lectured”, with either a grit or smooth surface. You should try both to decide which you like better.
You should have a 2B or 4B pencil and a kneaded eraser from any art store.
