Biological Oceanography (Middle and High School)

Come explore the study of the marine environment and its interactions by examining the processes governing the distribution, abundances, and production of plants, animals and nutrients in the oceanic ecosystem.  Emphasis in on investigations of bacteria, phytoplankton, zooplankton and benthic organisms.  Week 1 - Phytoplankton, Zoology of Zooplankton, Week 2 - Ecology of Marine Zooplankton, Biogeography of Pelagic Habitats, Week 3 - Mid-Water Organisms, The Fauna of Deep-Sea Sediments, Week 4 - Benthic Community Ecology, Hydrothermal Vents.
