Abraham is the only person in the Old Testament to be the patriarch of three major religions: Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Abraham is also the first individual in the Old Testament that most historians might consider to be a factual person. This gives Abraham a special place among world religions. However, the great gulf of time that separates us often hinders our comprehension. We will look at Abraham's journeys in the Fertile Crescent and the various cultures (Mesopotamian, Canaanite, and Egyptian) he encountered.
